Flight Structure and traveling trophy

Top 4 in each flight will be repaired on Day 3

• Championship Flight  
• 1st Flight 
• 2nd Flight
• 3rd Flight  
• Senior Flight (Age 60 and above)  
• Women’s Flight  
• Calloway Flight (for players without a verifiable handicap) 

Each Unit may have MULTIPLE Traveling Trophy Teams. Example, 162 WG Team 1, 162 WG Team 2, etc. Members in the Calloway Flight are not eligible for Traveling Trophy points. The unit POC will designate six players to represent EACH Traveling Trophy TEAM. Points will be awarded to players finishing in the top 3 places in each flight (excluding Calloway).  The Unit/Team with the most points will be awarded the Traveling Trophy.  Unit POCs must identify designated golfers, by Team, on the registration form. Any unit with 6 or less players, and a USGA handicap, are eligible as a Traveling Trophy Team (must be indicated on the registration form). Final changes to designated Team players can be made at check in on June 20th or the Captains meeting after the Shamble Event. The winner of the Traveling Trophy will be responsible for shipping the trophy to next year’s tournament location. Must be an active military member, retired, guard, reservist, or family participate to be eligible for Traveling Trophy points.

The top 3 finishers in each handicapped flight (gross and net) earn points for their respective team.  

1st place:  3 points  

2nd place: 2 points 

3rd place: 1 point

NEW RULE: Players must have a minimum of three 18-hole rounds or six 9-hole rounds in  calendar year 2023. Players who do not meet the 2023 minimum rounds will be given the choice of playing in the Calloway flight or at a scratch in the Champion Flight. 

Player’s competing for the Traveling Trophy MUST have a current USGA or equivalent handicap; supporters are NOT eligible for traveling trophy points. The handicap may be based on 9 or 18-hole rounds (9-hole handicap will be doubled minus 2 strokes). Only handicaps based on the USGA system are acceptable. We MUST be able to verify handicaps by June 1st, 2022. If an individual does not have a verifiable handicap by the date listed above they will compete as scratch (Championship FLT) or in the Calloway Flight.
